Program Overview

The primary focus of Up a Creek’s After School Care is the safety, well-being, and happiness of each child, while providing an imaginative and fun environment to be physically active every day. Academically, we support our students with daily homework and reading assistance. We strive to provide a unique, outstanding, safe, and reliable service to each child and their family.

This program is available to Pre-K through 5th grade students of Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary, Hampton Cove Elementary, and Monte Sano Elementary. Space is Limited. Check Availability and Enroll Online Here.

Registration Fee

$35 per student per school year.

$70 per week. (Daily Rates are not available.)  Weekly payments are due each Friday to maintain a two-week prepaid status for the upcoming weeks of care. Cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard, AmEx, and Discover are all accepted. Online payments can be made here.  There is a $10 late fee for accounts that fall past due.

Afternoon Check-In Process

At dismissal, Up a Creek staff members are there waiting to greet our students, a.k.a. “Up a Creek Riders,” as they exit at the back of each school in the bus line. It is a very orderly process.  We have a check-in list for students and do not leave without everyone being checked-in or accounted for.

Afternoon Schedule

When we arrive at Up a Creek, we play for approximately 35 minutes on our outdoor playground. We then have snack (provided) and homework/reading time with assistance. After homework time, we play again until all children are signed out by a designated adult by 6:00p.m. We go to Hays Nature Preserve on Wednesdays and Fridays, weather permitting. You may sign-out at Hays. On Hays Days, we return to the center by 4:00p.m.

School Breaks

There is no charge for school breaks. Alternate day camps are available with Adventure Seekers of North Alabama.

A two-week written notice is required to withdraw.

Behavior Policy

Bad language, disruptive, disrespectful, and aggressive behavior are not tolerated. Dismissal is at the discretion of the Program Director.
